Double-Doubles Prove Trouble as Toros Cruise by Bethesda

COSTA MESA -- Senior Ivan Dooley led all scorers with 18 points while tying for game-high rebounds with 11 as Cal State Dominguez Hills posted a pair of double-doubles in cruising to an 82-60 win over Bethesda University in the Vanguard Thanksgiving Classic.

Justin Sadler added 13 points and 11 boards as the Toros won their third-straight to move to 4-2 on the year.

The Toros shot 50.0% for the game and a torrid 44.4% from downtown, with a quartet of Toros hitting two 3-pointers each.

After the two teams split the first eight points, the Toros went on a 9-4 run to take control of the game, with Arthur Caldwell giving CSUDH the five-point edge at the 13:49 mark.

The lead grew to as much as 21-12 on a Dooley triple, with Josh Brown capping the first-half scoring with a layup to give the Toros a comfortable 40-22 lead at the break.

Shaquille Hunter got in on the 3-point barrage with one of his own to open the second half as CSUDH's lead stretched to 23 points at 47-24 on a Sadler layup with just under two minutes elapsed.

The Flames got to within 55-41 with 13:33 left, prompting a Toro timeout, one that proved timely as CSUDH went on a 7-2 run to douse the would-be Bethesda uprising.

Vincent Golson added 12 in the win, also dishing a game-high eight assists, while Sadler swatted away two balls.

CSUDH opens its 2015-16 homestand on Monday as CCAA foe Stanislaus State visits Carson for a rare non-conference contest between league schools, with first tip set for 5:30 pm.  All fans in attendance will receive a 2015-16 CSUDH basketball poster for free.
