Alaska Anchorage Runs Away in Second Half in 82-61 Win Over Toros

ANAHEIM -- Anaheim may be considered the happiest place on Earth for some, but don't tell the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros after the University of Alaska Anchorage turned a halftime deadlock into an 82-61 runaway win at the CCA Tip-Off Classic, dropping CSUDH to 0-2 to kick off the 2015-16 season.

Newcomer Imari Brown paced the Cardinal and Gold with 16 points in the loss as the tournament shifts to the Torodome where the Toros close the women's portion with William Jewell Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Breanne Garcia collected 10 points, reaching double figures for the second consecutive day. She also had four assists and three rebounds. Monay Lee had eight points but foul trouble has kept her off the floor for a majority of the second half.

A flurry of three-point baskets was the key ingredient to the Seawolves' (2-0) victories, going 12-of-24 overall and 7-for-12 in the second half. Conversely, CSUDH went just 2-for-13 from downtown, hitting just one trey after intermission to seal their fate.

After UAA outscored the Toros by 10 in the third, the Seawolves used a 14-2 run halfway in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

The Toros took advantage of the free throw line throughout the first half, hitting all 17 in the first half en route to a 29-for-36 effort at the charity stripe, but UAA hit 41.8% from the field overall compared to just 30.6% for the Toros in the runaway.

Four Seawolves scored in double figures, led by a whopping 28 points by Jenna Buchanan.
