Talia Rayford Named CCAA Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK -- Senior guard Talia Rayford capped a stellar weekend by being named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for the week of January 5-11, it was announced by the CCAA office.  This is Rayford's first career CCAA POW honor.

The Inglewood native led Cal State Dominguez Hills to a pair of road wins at Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay by averaging 16 points and 13 boards a game, keeping the Toros in a tie for second place in the CCAA, one game back of Humboldt State.

The senior began her weekend with a monster 20-point, 11-board effort at always tough CS East Bay, helping the Toros pull away for a 14-point win as she shot nearly 60% from the field and 75% from downtown.  The next night, she tallied 12 points, 15 boards and two blocks in another 14-point win, this time at CS Monterey Bay..

Rayford also added seven assists, six assists, two steals and two blocks en route to earning her first-career in-season accolade.

CSUDH hosts defending NCAA West Region champion Cal Poly Pomona for a national showdown on Friday, set for 5:30 pm in the Torodome.
