Chica the Man as Toros Topple No. 5 Chico State in 1-0 Thriller

CARSON -- True freshman Joey Chica made his first goal as a Cal State Dominguez Hills Toro a memorable one, positioning himself to collect a cross before sending it over the goal line with just over five minutes left in a thrilling 1-0 win over No. 5 Chico State.

The Toros move to 3-4-1, 1-0 CCAA, while the Wildcats were handed their first defeat of the year in falling to 5-1-1, 0-1 CCAA.

CSUDH dominated the nationally-ranked Wildcats, earning a 14-6 shot advantage, an 8-2 edge in corners and a whopping 7-0 discrepancy in shots on goal.

A scoreless game through the first 84 minutes turned in favor of the Cardinal and Gold after Chica collected a cross and sent it by Wildcat keeper Luke Dennison, his second shot of the night, and second attempt on goal.

That proved enough for the staunch Toro defense and keeper Chase Gentry, who earned his first shutout as a Toro.

The Toros will look to make it three-straight on Sunday at CS San Bernardino, which lost 2-1 at Cal Poly Pomona earlier today.
