Kamran Young Named CCAA Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK -- Cal State Dominguez Hills junior Kamran Young has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week for the week of March 31-April 6, it was just announced by the CCAA office.

This is Young's first career CCAA Player of the Week honor.

The junior from Santa Clarita was stellar as the Toros took three of four from Cal State Stanislaus last weekend to get them back in the mix for the CCAA Championship Tournament.

Young hit .571 with a .625 on-base percentage and .929 slugging percentage, tallying eight hits in 14 at-bats with two doubles, a homerun, eight RBI and two walks.

He connected for at least two hits in three of the four games and of his eight hits, three of them went for extra bases.

Young drove in 5 RBI after hitting a 3-run homer in game one of Saturday's double-header to highlight his weekend perfromance.

Having won seven of their last eight, the Toros' road gets much tougher as they travel to Chico to face perennial power and No. 5 Chico State in a four-game CCAA series, looking to break into the league's top four to earn a berth into the CCAA Championship Tournament with just 16 games left in the regular season.

The Toros haven't had much success against the Wildcats after last winning on April 2, 2011, a stretch of 10-consecutive losses heading into Friday's game one.  Fans can follow all the action from Chico as it happens via live stats and live audio.
