LA JOLLA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills closed its 2014 season with a split at perennial power UC San Diego, powering to a game one win after senior Adriana Sanchez's 1-for-2 effort that went for a home run in a 3-2 win, before the Tritons regrouped in a 2-0 nightcap win to send its seniors out with a victory on the final day of the regular season.

The split moves the Toros 2014 record to 17-35, 11-25 CCAA under first-year head coach Kim Aggabao, who played her college ball at UC San Diego.

The opening game win snapped a four-game skid, and earned starting pitcher Jamie Duran her 10th win of the year.

CSUDH scored the game's first two runs, with a Veronica Vazquez RBI double in the second and Sanchez's solo blast in the third providing the scoring.

The hosts cut their deficit in half in the third, only to have the Toros take it back in their next at-bat as Sanchez drew a bases-loaded walk with two out.

That nearly proved costly after UCSD put together three hits for a run in the fifth, but Duran proved up to the challenge, facing the minimum six batters over the final two innings for the win.

Five Toros went for a hit each in the win as Duran scattered eight hits.

The nightcap was all UCSD after celebrating its seniors playing their final regular season game at Triton Field.

CSUDH again tallied five hits, with two courtesy of Sanchez, but pitcher Jennifer Manuel kept the Toros off the board in the 2-0 win.

Toro starter Karen Peterson scattered just three hits, but two Toro errors accounted for an unearned run in the loss.

Six Toro seniors played their final game today in Sanchez, Vazquez, Brittany Brenner, Catherine Brown, Elizabeth Jimenez and Peterson after the sextet enjoyed a CCAA Championship and hosting two NCAA Super Regionals amongst them.

Next year will return freshman phenom Madison Murphy as well as nine seniors including four entering their fourth year in 2015 in Stephanie Hua, Rachel Gulbrandsen, Alyssa Cruz-Fernandez and Kaci McGinnis.
