Toros Baseball Thinks Pink But Sees Red After Losing Two to UCSD

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CARSON -- Senior Danny Haley went 3-for-5 with a run in game one, but visiting UC San Diego scored three unanswered runs over the final two innings to take the opener by a 9-7 count, before the Tritons took a 12-4 decision in the nigcap which was called after 6.0 innings of play.

In the opener, the teams were tied at 1-1 entering the 4th when the Tritons put up another 5-run inning to take a 6-1 lead.

CSUDH, however, answered with two runs in each of its next three at-bats, two in the 4th courtesy of a Triton error, two in the 5th after a fielder's choice RBI and RBI groundout, and the final two in the 6th on a Bubby Rossman 2RBI single for a 7-6 lead.

The visitors, however, took the lead in the 8th with a pair of runs and added an insurance score in the 9th to preserve the 9-7 game one win.

The nightcap saw UCSD take a 6-1 lead after three, only to have the Toros reply with three in the 5th after a Taylor Kahanowitch RBI double and Aaron Gray 2RBI single to center.

UCSD, however, put up six in the 6th on four hits, the big blows coming on a pair of 2RBI baseknocks to put the Tritons up 12-4, which was called after six as the Tritons were up by eight runs, the game went at least 5.0 innings and it is the last game of the series.

CSUDH will travel to Rohnert Park next week for a CCAA four-game series against Sonoma State.
