Toros Salvage Split at Sonoma State Behind Haerle's Stellar Nightcap Performance

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ROHNERT PARK -- Senior David Haerle tossed 6.0 innings of 6-hit ball with just one run allowed to lead the Toros to a 2-1 win over host Sonoma State after the Seawolves took a 6-1 lead in the opener of today's CCAA's twinbill.

The win snaps an eight-game skid as CSUDH improves to 10-11, 5-9 CCAA.

Haerle was magnificent in holding the high-power Sonoma State offense to just six hits in 6.0 innings of work, fanning three in picking up his fourth win of the year (4-1).

Spotting SSU a run in the fifth, the Toros capitalized on three hits and a pair of Seawolf errors in the 6th to take the lead for good, as both Hayden Maurice and Bubby Rossman crossed the plate as unearned runs.

Joseph Perez tossed the final frame and faced four batters, stranding the leadoff hitter on third after issuing a lead-off walk and seeing the runner advance to second on a sacrifice and to third on a ground out.

The opener saw SSU stake itself to a 4-0 lead after four innings of play, more than enough for Seawolf starter Jon Richards, who was the second SSU starter in as many days to hurl a complete-game win against the Toros.

Tyler Mark suffered the loss after going 4.0, allowing four earned runs and seven hits.

Aaron Gray and Rico Pena stroked two hits each, with Pena driving in the lone run in the game in a 6-1 loss.

The Toros will conclude the four-game series tomorrow morning at 11 am.
