Steininger Named NCBWA West Region Player of the Week

POMONA – Cal State Dominguez Hills senior David Steininger was selected the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association West Region Player of the Week, it was announced by the NCBWA.

This honor follows the senior's California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week nod earned earlier this week.

This Steininger's first-career NCBWA West Region honor.

The senior from Moreno Valley boasted a .615 batting average, a .667 on-base percentage, and a .692 slugging percentage to lead the Toros to three wins over Cal State San Bernardino last weekend.

Steininger had eight hits in 13 at-bats on the weekend with six runs scored and three RBI. He earned a hit in all three games played, including multi-hit efforts in two, while also drawing two walks and stealing four bases.

The Toros continue CCAA play this week hosting No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona for a Thursday morning double-header, with game one's start time set for 11 am on Toro Field.
