Warriors Too Tough as Toros Drop 76-64 Decision

Box Score

CARSON -- Visiting Cal State Stanislaus rolled to a 40-28 halftime lead and never looked back in taking a 76-64 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on "Think Pink" night as the Warriors shot a sizzling 54.0% from the field and an even better 54.5% from 3-point land.

DeShaun Freeman and Moriba DeFreitas (pictured) led CSUDH with 12 points apiece in the setback as the Toros dropped to 7-17, 4-13 CCAA.

The game was close in the opening minutes, until CSUS turned a 5-4 lead at 16:22 into a 22-8 lead five minutes later, taking control of the game.

A Steffon Neal 3-pointer and tip-in gave CSUDH some much-needed momentum, and spured a run that saw the Toros cut their deficit to just 12 before entering the locker room down by that amount at 40-28.

CSUS continued to put the pressure on the hosts, running its lead to 18 on two occasions, until a Clinton Tremelling triple pushing the visitor's lead to 21 at 58-37 with just under 10 minutes left in regulation.

The Toros, however, cut their deficit to just 11 at 62-51 after Chris Carvin connected on a triple at the 3:55 mark, but solid free throw shooting down the stretch sealed the Toros' fate in the eventual 76-64 decision.

Neal added 10 points in the loss as CSUS sizzled on all offensive fronts.

CSUDH will look to snap its three-game skid tomorrow against Chico State.  The game will be streamed live on the Toro Sports Network, with David Smock calling all the play-by-play.
