Basketball Still in RV Category in USA Today Poll

Talia Rayford has been a key contributor to the success of this year's women's basketball team
McLEAN, Virginia -- Despite dropping a game during last weekend's road trip and falling into a 3-way tie for second place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team still was among those teams that received votes in the latest USA TODAY Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

This week's inclusion marks the second-consecutive week the Toros have been on the national radar, dipping 10 places to make CSUDH unofficially the 41st ranked team in the nation.

CSUDH is led by a potent 1-2-3 offensive punch in Monay Lee, Tayler Champion and Talia Rayford (pictured), who all sit amongst the top 20 in various offensive categories.

After suffering a 66-53 setback at San Francisco State, CSUDH regrouped en route to a dominating 79-53 win over host Sonoma State after out-scoring the Seawolves by at least 10 in each half.

The Toros have won 7 of their last 9 games, with the only other setback coming in a 64-53 loss at home to then No. 17 Cal Poly Pomona on January 18.

CCAA leader Cal Poly Pomona is the highest-ranking and lone CCAA school on the poll, coming in this week at No. 14.

The USA TODAY Sports board of coaches is made up of 33 head coaches at Division II institutions. All are members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

The Toros will settle in for a pivotal weekend at home, facing CS Stanislaus on Friday before taking on the Wildcats the next night.  Both games begin at 5:30 pm, with Saturday's showdown against the Wildcats being streamed live on the Toro Sports Network.
