No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona Hands Toros 2-0 Setback

Edson Lemus tallied 4 shots including 2 on frame in today's loss to the Broncos
Box Score

POMONA -- No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona remained unbeaten after handing visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills a 2-0 loss today in Pomona.

CSUDH drops its second-consecutive decision in falling to 4-6-1, 2-2 CCAA.

Heading into the weekend undefeated in league play, the Toros were looking to salvage one of the two contests after losing a heart-breaker to cross-town rival Cal State L.A. two days earlier.

All hopes of a split faded quickly after the Broncos struck for the game's first score in the 26th minute, with Alexander Turkson finishing into the upper left V after taking a feed from Luis Najera, Jr.

CPP doubled its lead 14 minutes later after a pair of passes found Aaron Macedo in front of the goal mouth where Macedo beat Toro keeper Dylan Roberts with a header six yards out.

That proved plenty for the Bronco defense, which was helped by its offense taking a 17-10 shot advantage, forcing Roberts to come up with nine saves.

Edson Lemus and Jaime Rios led the Toros with four shots apiece, with two of Lemus' attempts on goal.

CSUDH will try to end its two-game skid under the lights of Stub Hub Center's Main Stadium on Friday, as San Francisco State makes a visit to Carson.  First kick is set for 7 pm.
