DeShaun Freeman was the lone Toro in double-figure scoring in tonight's loss
Box Score

CARSON -- Visiting Humboldt State drained half of its 26 attempts from 3-point land in the game after taking a 44-26 halftime lead, and never looked back in a lopsided 78-50 runaway win over Cal State Dominguez Hills, the Toros' fourth-straight loss.

DeShaun Freeman led the Toros with 18 points as CSUDH falls to 5-11, 2-7 CCAA, while HSU was led by a pair of 19-point scorers in improving to 7-8, 2-7 CCAA.

Humboldt played anything unlike a team that entered tonight with a 1-7 record in league play, taking the lead after a jumper by Allan Guei, and stretching its advantage to eight with less than five minutes elapsed, and to 10 three minutes later.

Shooting 60.7% from the field over the first 20 minutes of play, HSU entered the break with the 18 point lead, and kept its foot on the pedal in the second half as a Will Taylor free throw brought the Jacks to a 48-26 lead less than two minutes in.

An Everett Turner triple gave CSUDH some momentum, but HSU contiued to hit from 3-point land, taking its first 23-point cushion on a Parker Farris trey.

The lead hit as high as 29 twice before a pair of Nathan Hentley freebies gave Humboldt its biggest lead of the game at 31, before the 78-50 final.

Darnell Martin finished with 8 points in the loss as the Toros were held to just 31.3% shooting, with HSU finishing the game at 51.9%.

The road won't get any easier tomorrow night as Cal Poly Pomona visits Carson riding an 8-game win streak after edging Cal State L.A. tonight in a 64-57 decision.
