Toros Pick Up First League Win in 3-1 Decision at CS Monterey Bay

Box Score

SEASIDE -- Coming off consecutive double-overtime draws to kick off CCAA play, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team received three goals by three different players, with sophomore defender Tony Alfaro's free kick score in the 81st minute providing the game-winner.

With the win, CSUDH improves to 3-0-2, 1-0-2 CCAA.

The hosts started the scoring early as Servando Perez flipped his shot over Toro keeper Markus Dickerson, who came out of his box.

Alejandro Covarrubias, however, tied the game just before the half after taking an Aaron Salazar cross and one-touching it past Evan Drak in the 42nd minute.

CSUDH seemed to be headed towards its third-consecutive overtime match, until Alfaro connected on a free kick at 80:16, with Wyatt Stucker adding an insurance goal a minute and a half later to complete the scoring on a Covarrubias feed.

The Toros outshot the Otters 10-5 in the first half before CSUMB took a 5-4 shot advantage after the break, with the Toros taking three corners compared to two for the Otters.

CSUDH will look to stretch its win streak to two and unbeaten streak to six on Sunday as it travels to San Francisco State for an 11:30 am first kick.
