Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CARSON -- After scoring 10 runs to take the opening stanza of this weekend's four-game set against Cal Poly Pomona, the Toros were stifled in the comforts of Toro Field as the visiting Broncos took convincing 14-2 and 8-0 wins over the hosts to take a 2 games to 1 lead in the series, with the finale set for tomorrow morning at 11 am.  Matt Montgomery scored the final run of the opener for CSUDH, also connecting for a base hit.

With the losses, CSUDH falls to 10-10, 7-8 CCAA, while the Broncos improve to 14-8, 7-8 CCAA.

It was all Cal Poly Pomona today as the Broncos belted 13 hits in the opener in staking themselves to a 9-0 lead after three innings of play.

CSUDH got on the board in the 4th on a Tyler Mark RBI single, the first hit and RBI of his college career, only to have CPP answer with 5 more runs in the 7th and 8th innings to end any hopes of a Toro comeback.

Cody Yates lasted just 3.0 innings, giving up 9 earned runs and 7 hits in his first start of the year.

Offensively, CSUDH mustered eight hits from eight different Toros in the loss.

It was more of the same in the nightcap as CPP plated 3 in the 1st off Toro starter Joseph Perez, and 4 more in the 5th off David Haerle, with the CPP duo of starter Kevin Bosson and reliever Cody Ponce teaming to hold CSUDH to just a pair of singles in the shutout.

CPP collected 12 hits with Joseph Eusebio rapping 3 to lead the Bronco attack.

The two teams will conclude their four-game set tomorrow in Pomona, with first pitch set for 11 am.
