Toros Lead Wire to Wire in 64-49 Win at Humboldt State

Box Score

ARCATA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills shot 42% from the floor as three Toros scored in double figures en route to a convincing 64-49 win at Humboldt State that gave CSUDH its second win in a row as well as a regular season sweep of the Jacks.

Denisha Lundy notched game-high scoring honors for the second-straight contest, hitting 7-of-11 from the floor as part of her 17 point effort.

With the win, CSUDH improves to 9-16, 8-13 CCAA, while HSU falls to 10-17, 6-15 CCAA.

It was all Cal State Dominguez Hills from the opening tip as Julia Poecksteiner hit a pair of 3s to start the scoring en route to an 11-2 lead in the first four minutes of play.

The lead ballooned to double figures before peaking at 19 at 32-13 with just less than two minutes left in the half on a Joi Bertrand bucket, before the Toros settled for a 34-15 lead entering the break.

It was more of the same after the break as a Siedah Wilson triple pushed CSUDH's lead to 27 at 44-17 at the 16:07 mark, before a slight HSU cut the Toro lead to under 20.

Behind a Lundy free throw at the 12:05 mark, however, the Toros again regained control of the contest in taking a 25-point lead at 54-29, cruising to the 15-point win to take the regular season series.

In addition to nailing just under 43% of their shots, the Toros hit 53.3% from behind the arc (8-of-15), offsetting their sub-par performance from the line (6-for-12).

Wilson added 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting that included 4-of-5 makes from long range, with Poecksteiner chipping in 13 in the win.

Kielyn Wilson and Robyn Cochran were huge on the boards with 11 and 10, respecitvely, as CSUDH out-womaned HSU in rebounds, 47 to 45.

CSUDH will look to end the regular season on a positive note on Friday in Pomona, still with a chance to make the CCAA tournament.
