Diame's Monster Double-Double Leads Toros to 63-54 Win at CS Stanislaus

Box Score

TURLOCK -- Senior Lamine Diame tallied game-high totals with 16 points and 15 boards as Cal State Dominguez Hills rebounded from last night's loss at Chico State with a solid 63-54 win at CS Stanislaus, spoiling the Warrior "Senior Day."

With the win, CSUDH moves to 15-12, 11-9 CCAA, while the Warriors fall to 9-15, 6-14 CCAA.

The Toros jumped out to a quick start, pushing their edge to double figures at 19-9 on a Mitrell Clark layup at 13:05, only to see the hosts out-score the Toros 12-5 to cut their deficit to just three.

CSUDH's lead dwindled to just 28-26 after a Warrior triple, but a Givon Crump triple of his own and a Diame jumper gave the Toros some breathing room, entering the break with a 35-31 edge.

After the break, the Warriors used the encouragement from their "Senior Day" crowd to catch the Toros, taking a 42-41 lead after a Taylor Bell 3-pointer at the 14:59 mark, extending it to 47-44 three minutes later.

The Toros, however, behind a Myron Green bucket, regained the lead at 47-46, and used a pair of Diame freebies to push the edge to 53-49 with 7:34 left in regulation, riding cold CSUS shooting and clutch free throw shooting to seal the eventual 63-54 win.

Crump and Green each added 13 points and 9 boards in the win as the Toros sank 16-of-18 from the free throw line, with the +9 edge at the line accounting for the final margin.

Having clinched one of eight berths in the upcoming CCAA Championship Tournament, the Toros sit just two games out of the 4th and final hosting spot with a pair of road games left in the regular season, starting with Humboldt State next week.
