No. 11 Toros End Desert Stinger With 8-1 Win Over Host MSUB

Box Score

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- What's turning out to be a prolific Cal State Dominguez Hills offense again was on display as the 11th-ranked Toros scored in each of its six innings en route to an 8-1 win over host Montana State Billings to close the Desert Stinger.

Both Adriana Sanchez (pictured) and Brittany Brenner went deep in the win a the Toros improved to 8-2 on the year.

CSUDH wasted little time in getting on the board, using a 1st-inning blast by Brenner to take a 1-0 lead, before a sacrifice fly in the 2nd, a Sanchez blast in the 3rd, a Sanchez sacrifice fly in the 4th and a MSUB error in the 5th gave starter Stephanie Jimenez a 5-1 lead, with two RBI singles and another sacrifice fly put across the final 3 runs of the game in the bottom of the 6th to close the scoring.

That was plenty for Jimenez, who tossed a complete-game 4-hitter, fanning 10 batters against just 3 walks in the win.

Sanchez, Brenner and Christina Chavez each belted 2 hits in the win, with Sanchez the lone player with multiple RBI.

CSUDH will open its 2013 home and CCAA schedule this Friday against Chico State, with first pitch of game one's twinbill set to begin at 11:00 am on Toro Diamond.  The series can be heard live on the Toro Sports Network by clicking here.
