Lee's Monster Game Nets First CCAA Win for Toros in 65-53 Decision at CS Monterey Bay

Box Score

SEASIDE -- Sophomore Monay Lee's 34 points pushed Cal State Dominguez Hills to a 65-53 win over host Cal State Monterey Bay to give the Toros their first league win.

Lee's total gives her the second-most points in CSUDH history for points in a single game as the Toros move to 3-2, 1-2 CCAA, and becomes the first player ever to score at least 30 points against the Otters.

Lee's 34 points included the first 17 Toro points of the game, part of her 22-point effort by halftime that single-handedly trumped the Otter team's 19 points during the first 20 minutes of play.

Senior CSUMB forward Ashley Morgan notched a career-scoring high for the second consecutive night.

For its part, CSUMB got off to a glacially slow start for the second consecutive game. The Otters were a season–low 7-of-33 from the floor in the first half, including 1-of-9 from beyond the arc.

By the time CSUMB began to heat up, the Toros had built a 47–24 eight minutes into the second half. The Otters caught fire at that point, converting five of their final seven from 3–point range as they got as close as 10 points down the stretch.

Monay added a game–high 13 rebounds to her 34 points. Breanne Garcia was the only other Toro to reach double figures, finishing with 12 points.

CSUDH will host cross-town rival Cal State L.A. in its home opener on Sunday, December 15, with first tip set for a 1 pm start.
