HAYWARD -- Coming into tonight's road contest riding a two-game win streak, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team ran into a hot and balanced Cal State East Bay squad as four Pioneers went for at least 10 points in CSUEB's 68-55 win.

With the loss, CSUDH evens its overall record to 2-2, but remains winless in league play at 0-2.

Holding the Toros to just 19 points in the first half, CSUEB led wire-to-wire in the 13-point win while shutting down CSUDH from 3-point land.

The hosts built an early cushion as the defense held CSU Dominguez Hills to just four points during a 10-minute stretch in first half en route to a 21-8 lead following the scoring run and leading by double figures over the entire second half.

Despite limited minutes due to foul trouble, Pioneer Brianna Terrance led all players with 20 points. She went 7-of-12 from the floor and knocked down 6-of-6 free throws to score 20-plus points for the third time this season, while teammate Danielle Peacon pulled down 16 boards and added nine points, three blocks and two assists.

Tayler Champion and Monay Lee had combined to average 26 points and over 20 rebounds per game heading into Friday, but the Toros' dynamic duo was held in check to the tune of 11 points and eight rebounds in 31 combined minutes of floor time.

Ashanti Sweezer posted a season-high 14 points courtesy of a 7-for-11 shooting performance from the floor.  She also grabbed seven boards to tie Champion for the team-high.

The Toros will try to earn their first CCAA win of the year tomorrow as they take on CS Monterey Bay in Seaside tomorrow, with first tip set for 5:30 pm.
