Box Score

HAYWARD -- In a contest in which both teams virtually canceled the other out statistically, five more three-pointers made by host Cal State East Bay translated into a 69-64 win for the Pioneers to kick off the lone full CCAA weekend in December.

With the loss, CSUDH drops to 3-4, 0-2 CCAA, looking to get into the league win column tomorrow night at CS Monterey Bay.

The hosts took an early 4-0 lead, and stretched it to 12-5 at the 13:22 mark.

A pair of DeShaun Freeman free throws cut into CSUDH's deficit, with a Freeman dunk nearly eight minutes later giving the Toros their first lead of the night at 28-27, courtesy of a Moriba DeFreitas dish at the 4:45 mark.

CSUEB, however, would use an 8-4 run to take a 35-34 lead entering the break.

After intermission, the Pios continued to keep CSUDH chasing, until another Freeman flush with 13:06 left in regulation, with neither team able to take more than a 2-point lead over the next 3 minutes.

Using an 8-0 run, the Pios would take control of the game, holding off the Toros down the stretch.

Freeman finished with a team-high 11 points and 9 boards, with Everett Turner draining two of the team's four triples in the loss.

CSUEB enjoyed a 17-6 assist edge with both teams draining 24 field goals from the floor, and 12 free throws.
