Comeback Falls Short as Jacks Take 2-1 Win in Arcata

Box Score

ARCATA -- Senior Miguel Vazquez blasted his shot into the upper left "V" with less than 12 minutes left in regulation, but it was too little, too late as host Humboldt State took a 2-1 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills this afternoon, the Toros' second-straight loss.

CSUDH drops to 5-2-2, 3-2-2 CCAA.

The hosts started the scoring early as Chuck Pitts collected a through ball from Nate Roupp and whistled his low line drive past Toro keeper Markus Dickerson for a 1-0 lead at 22:03.

That's where the score remained until the second half when Braxton Griffin took a Zach Hammond feed and found himself 1v1 with Dickerson, where he beat the senior keeper to his right to double the score.

CSUDH finally got on the board after Vazquez's score, on an assist by Aaron Salazar, but Jack keeper Ryan Ades and his defense held firm in HSU's win.

Dickerson finished with 7 saves on the night as the Toros managed a slim 15-13 shot advantage, with each team notching 3 corners.

The Toros face another stiff challenge on Sunday as they travel to face arch-rival Sonoma State.
