Toros Debut at No. 5 in First NCAA Region Poll of Year

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Despite going winless against a pair of ranked teams last week in a double-overtime draw at No. 17 UC San Diego and a 2-0 loss hosting No. 13 Cal State L.A. on Senior Day, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team made its debut at No. 5 in the first NCAA West Region poll of the year, it was just announced.

Cal State L.A., which moved up a spot to No. 12 in the NSCAA top 25 poll, checked in as the top seed, with No. 24 Chico State debuting at No. 2.  No. 18 UC San Diego follows as the No. 3 seed, with Simon Fraser, ranked No. 4 in the nation, preceding the Toros in the region.

Seattle Pacific sits at No. 6, with CS Monterey Bay and Cal Baptist holding the Nos. 7 and 8 spots, respectively.

The top six teams qualify for the NCAA postseason, with three more polls to be announced prior to the first round of regional competition, which begins November 14 at two sub-regional sites to be determined.

Aaron Salazar leads the Toros with 9 goals and 9 assists, good enough for 2nd and 1st amongst the CCAA's best.

The Toros, currently at 8-3-3, 6-3-3 CCAA, head to No. 24 Chico State on Friday, and follow that match-up with a date at CS San Bernardino two days later.
