CS Stanislaus Out-Warriors Toros in 2-1 Win

Box Score
TURLOCK -- Redshirt freshman Andrew Johnson collected the first collegiate goal of his career just 57 seconds into the second half, but host Cal State Stanislaus answered with a pair of goals in the 78th minute to take a physical 2-1 win over the Toros in the league opener for both squads.

After a scoreless first half in which the two teams combined for 11 shots taken, Johnson wasted little time in earning the game's first score, taking a feed from Miguel Vazquez under a minute into the second half and beating Warrior keeper Clint Long for a 1-0 lead.

That's where the game remained until the 78th minute when Kyle Cadigan tapped in the equalizer after a corner kick, with Daniel Kuczynski connected on the game-winner 51 ticks later on a throw-in from the far sideline.

Long finished with 6 saves compared to 5 for Toro keeper Trey Mitchell as they physical contest resulted in 7 total cautions and one Warrior ejection at 86:43.

CSUDH, now 0-2-1, will travel to Chico State on Sunday after the Wildcats handed visiting Cal State L.A. a 3-0 loss earlier today.
