TURLOCK -- Pinch hitter Melissa Pacheco delivered an RBI double to right center field to bring home Jessica Hall with the game-winning run to give 9th-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills a thrilling 2-1, 8-inning win over Cal State East Bay in the Silver Bracket Title game after taking a 2-0 win over Hawai'i Pacific earlier to advance to the final contest.

With the wins, CSUDH improves to 36-8 overall with eight league games remaining in the regular season.

Junior aces Lauren Harper and Stephanie Jimenez both were named to the Tournament of Champion All-Tournament team, the only squad that boasted two starters on the squad.

Harper went 3-1 with a 1.75 ERA, fanning 25 batters gainst just four walks, while Jimenez went 2-1 with 28 batters fanned against just two walks, boasting a 0.56 ERA.

Offensively, senior Khryssi Steele ended the TOC with a .409 average with Veronica Vazquez tallying three extra base knocks as the Toros went 5-2 over the weekend.

Against the Pioneers, regulation failed to decide the title as starters Jimenez and Lauren Zweigle matched zeroes across the board for the first seven full innings.

CS East Bay struck first in the eighth after placing a runner on second to begin the frame, a condition used for extra innings in tournament play.

The Toros, however, answered back in their at-bat as speedster Steele moved from second to third on a Vazquez sacrifice bunt, and trotted home on a Hall RBI single.

After Zweigle retired clean-up hitter Christina Chavez on a foul out and Jimenez was plunked to move Hall to second, Pacheco came through with her clutch hit to send the Toros home winners.

Jimenez picked up her 17th win of the year, with Steele adding a 3-for-4 effort in the game.

In the Silver Bracket semi against the Sea Warriors, the game was scoreless through three and a half innings of play, until the Toros scored both of their runs in the bottom of the fourth.

In the frame, Vazquez led off with a solo shot to left field, after which a Chavez double to the left-center field gap played Hall, who followed Vazquez with an infield hit.

That proved plenty for starter Lauren Harper, who scattered six hits with six strikeouts to improve to 18-5 on the season.

Hall tallied two hits to lead the Toro offense in the win.

The Toros will take to the road for their final two CCAA series, beginning with a showdown against Chico State this Friday.
