SAN BERNARDINO - The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team wrapped up its first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes with four errors and eight men stranded in a 6-3 loss.

Going into game two of the doubleheader on the road the Toros are now 1-1 overall, while the Coyotes improve to 3-2.

The Toros started the first inning off much like Friday afternoon against Oregon Tech after taking a quick one run lead.  Carlos Avila (pictured) led of with a single through the left side and was advanced to second by a sacrifice bunt laid by centerfielder Matt Young.  Drew Rodela then doubled into the left center field gap to score Avila.

Cal State San Bernardino answered back in the bottom of the first with three runs, but the Toros defense helped out a bit.  Wardour recorded three of his five walks in the first inning, including walking in the first Coyote run of the game.

Two fielding errors also gave the Coyotes the momentum to score two more runs to build a 3-0 lead.

Dominguez Hills was able to bring the score to just a deficit of one run after Sako Chapjian led off the fourth with a double down the left line.  After a groundout by Oda to the first baseman, Chapjian was just ninety feet from home, when Vopinek also grounded out to the first baseman, allowing Chapjian to cut the Coyote lead to one.

The hosts tacked on two more in the fifth and one in the seventh before a Chris Vopinek sacrifice fly brought home a run for the Toros in the 8th, but it was too little, too late in the eventual 6-3 loss.

Leading offensively for the Toros was once again the designated hitter Chapjian, who went 2-for-4 with one run and two doubles, and Avila, who enjoyed a 3-for-5 effort.

Game 2 was cancelled due to rain.

The toros return home Sunday for their annual Alumni event at Toro Field beginning at 11:45 a.m.
