Second Half Scoring Spree Favors Broncos in 2-1 Win Over Toros

Box Score
CARSON -- Lacking the sense of urgency that was evident in Friday's win, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team withstood a lackluster first half by keeping visiting Cal Poly Pomona off the board, but allowed two goals after the break in a 2-1 loss.

Molly Brennan scored CSUDH's lone goal with a seeing eye goal from 25 yards far post in the 80th minute.

With the loss, the Toros fall to 3-7-2, 2-7-1, while the Broncos improve to 5-4-2, 3-4-2 CCAA.

The Toros kept the visitors off the board in the first 45 minutes of play despite being out-shot 10-2, forcing keeper Tiffany Hollis to make 4 of her 7 saves.

Cal Poly Pomona finally struck in the 60th minute as a long cross towards the box from Megan Kisslan found a waiting Kaelyn Kaichi, who one-timed her low line drive past Hollis for a 1-0 lead.

That advantage doubled seven minutes later as a long over the top pass found a pair of Broncos past the Toro defense, with Veronica Ramos feeding Alison Sauve for an open netter after Hollis came off the line to challenge Ramos.

Facing a two-goal deficit, the Toros got their attack in gear, finally pressuring Bronco keeper Sarah Rohman.

That aggressive cut CSUDH's deficit in half after Brennan drove her blast through a sea of both cardinal and white jerseys that helped shield Rohman's vision, allowing the line drive to nestle just inside the left post at 79:25.

It was too little, too late, however as CPP employed a keep-away offense in both corners the rest of the game to cement the 2-1 win.

The Toros will look to regain that urgency next weekend as CS San Bernardino visits Carson on Friday, with first kick set for 4:30 pm.
