Toros Snap Two-Match Skid With 3-1 Win at Humboldt State

ARCATA -- Saddled with a pair of four-set losses heading into tonight's match at Humboldt State, the Toros responded with a four-set win of their own as Abbey Prusa put down 13 kills en route to a .524 hitting percentage, adding 6 digs and 3 blocks in the victory.

With the 25-18, 25-19, 20-25, 25-16 win, the Toros improve to 7-8, 5-3 CCAA, while the Jacks remain winless in league play at 0-8, and 2-13 overall.

The Toros came out on fire in the opener, putting away 17 balls with just one error en route to a .485 hitting percentage in the 25-18 win, following that with a .310 hitting percentage in set two that also went CSUDH's way in a 25-19 tally.

The 'Jacks cut their deficit in half by taking a 25-20 third set, but CSUDH found its third wind in the fourth, running away with a 25-16 win to put the match away.

Whitney Lee added 10 kills and a block while Delea Pursel put away 8 balls while adding 3 block solos and 3 block assists in the win.

Korryne Kelley and Elizabeth Krieger led the charge defensively with a combined 27 digs, while quarterback Dana Brown put up 38 assists while service three aces.

As a team, CSUDH out-hit its hosts .246 to .104 in the workwoman-like win, keeping HSU winless in league play.

The Toros return to southern California to take on Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday, with first serve set for 7 pm.
