Toros Fall to Wildcat Offense in 82-53 Loss

Box Score
CHICO -- Senior forward Brittni Hulsizer led the Cal State Dominguez HIlls women's basketball team for the first time this season with 14 points, but it was not enough to carry the Toros to victory as CSUDH fell to Chico State 82-53 in Friday night CCAA action.

Still in search of their second CCAA win, the Toros fall to 1-8 in the California Collegiate Athletic Assocation and 2-14 overall.  Chico State, meanwhile, improves to 8-5 overall, and 5-4 in conference play.

The Toros out-played their opponent on the boards for the third consecutive game, pulling down 45 rebounds to the Wildcats' 42.  Senior Sherrie Hughes led CSUDH with eight rebounds, followed closely by Hulsizer with seven rebounds.  Two Toros in Porcha Davis and Tiffany Smith contributed as well with six snags each.

Chico State possessed total control throughout the entire contest with a lead as high as 24 points (37-13) with just under four minutes remaining in the first half.  The second half brought more scoring for the Wildcats as the hosts reached a 31-point lead over the Toros late in the second half.

Hulsizer, who was 4-for-5 from the floor and a perfect (6-6) from the foul line, was the only Toro to score double-digit points.  Contributing to the CSUDH effort was Hughes with eight points and Davis with seven points.

Three players from Chico State hit double-digits in the scoring column, with reigning CCAA Player of the Week Synchro Bull leading all scorers with 16 points, while Samantha Messersmith scoring 12 points, and Courtney Hamilton 10.

The Toros will take on Cal State Stanislaus Warriors at the Fitzpatrick Arena in Turlock tomorrow night, with tipoff set for 5:30 pm.
