Toros Lose Series Opener 10-2 at CSU San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO -- Looking to chase down the final CCAA playoff spot, this weekend's series against the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes took on extra importance for the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros.  In the series opener, the Coyotes showed they were in no mood to allow CSUDH to gain ground, defeating the Toros by a 10-2 final. Senior Kevin Pillar led the team with two hits on the afternoon.

The Toros took an early 2-1 after two innings thanks to a two-run bottom of the second with the bottom of the order cashing in both runs.

After CSUSB knotted the score at two in the bottom of the fifth, they grabbed a stranglehold of the game by scoring three in the bottom of the sixth.
The Coyotes used a two-run homer to break the game open for good.

The Coyotes continued to pull away thanks to one in the seventh and four huge runs in the bottom of the eighth, eventually taking the series opener by a 10-2 final.

Toro starter Shane Youngdale fell to 2-2 after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing 9 hits and 5 runs, all earned.

The Toros of Cal State Dominguez Hills will continue their CCAA series at Cal State San Bernardino Friday March 18, with first pitch set for 3:00 pm.
