Toros Turn Over Game to Otters in 71-51 Loss

Box Score
SEASIDE -- Host Cal State Monterey Bay enjoyed a 26 to 9 scoring advantage off turnovers, and turned that margin into a convincing 71-51 win over visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills tonight in the Kelp Bed.  Zipporah Brown led the Toros with 11 boards, chipping in 8 points in the loss.

With the loss, CSUDH falls to 1-11, 0-5 CCAA, while CSUMB improves to 7-1, 4-0 CCAA.

The visitors kept things close in the opening stanza, even taking a 15-14 lead with 7:53 left in the first half after Lyndsay Heard collected an offensive board for an easy put-back.

CSUMB, however, would use a 13-4 run to take control of the half en route to a 32-26 edge entering the break.

It was all the Otters after intermission as the hosts held the Toros to just 33.3% shooting from the field while connecting for nearly 40% of their attempts, out-scoring CSUDH by 14 in the session.

The Toros' deficit grew to as large as 26 on two occasions before an old-fashioned 3-point play by Ashley Hudson, a bucket by Hillarie Perrin-Grant and a foul shot by Nicole Zugasti closed the game's scoring to account for the final margin.

CSUDH will conclude the calendar season on Friday, December 30, as it hosts cross-town rival Cal State L.A. for a 1 pm tip.  The game can be seen live on the Toro Sports Network at www.GoToros.com/live.
