Cold Second Half Key in 60-42 Loss for Toros at No. 13 Grand Canyon

Box Score
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- After suffering a miserable first half in game one of yesterday's Antelope Classic, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros suffered a subpar second half in today's 60-42 loss to host and 13th-ranked Grand Canyon University.  Lyndsay Heard hit 5-of-6 free throws en route to 7 points.

With the loss, CSUDH falls to 1-5, while the 'Lopes stay undefeated at a perfect 4-0.

Maylinn Smith led the charge for GCU with 12 points, with Erica Paskell added 11 points with a 3-for-5 performance from behind the arc.

GCU trailed for a majority of the first half before using an 11-3 run to take a 26-23 lead over Dominguez Hills heading into halftime.

The Antelopes had a 14-5 stretch over the final four minutes of the first half, with four points apiece from Paskell and Smith.

The 'Lopes responded well after the break, outscoring Dominguez Hills 34-19 in the second half, including a 7-0 run to open the period.

GCU outrebounded its opponent for the second straight night, 51-25, for their highest mark of the season while its bench also provided a spark in the game, scoring 27 points on 13-for-31 shooting.

Porcha Davis led CSUDH with 11 points with Sherrie Hughes adding a team-best 6 boards.

The Toros, who were held to 42 points for the second-consecutive game, will open its home and CCAA schedule on Friday, December 2, hosting perennial power UC San Diego.  The game can be heard on the Toro Sports Network by clicking here, with the pregame show set to begin at 5:15 pm.
