No. 3 Seed Men Look to Settle Score With Chico State in Friday's CCAA Semis

CARSON -- Less than two months after suffering a 5-0 home drubbing at the hands of visiting Chico State, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team will get its chance to avenge that loss this Friday in the first semifinal of the CCAA Conference Tournament, with first kick set for 4:30 pm at Warrior Stadium on the campus of host Cal State Stanislaus.

That game marked the worse loss for the program since October 16, 2005, when rival Sonoma State handed the Toros a 6-0 thrashing in Rohnert Park.

Friday's game will take on much more significance in addition to earning a spot in Sunday's final.

Seattle Pacific entered last week as the top team in the NCAA West Region, with the Toros right behind at No. 2.  However, both teams suffered defeats last week -- SPU to the nation's top team in Simon Fraser and the Toros to CS Monterey Bay in the regular season finale -- so this weekend's games will play a significant role in determining which four teams make the NCAA postseason, and in what order.

Senior Jordan Rover leads the Toro offense with 7 goals and 17 points, with freshman Connor Brandt and sophomore Miguel Vazquez chipping in with 4 goals each.

Since the defeat at the hands of the Wildcats, CSUDH has reeled off a 9-3-1 record, and finished in second place in the league's South Division behind Cal State L.A., which earned the second seed in the tournament.
