Biola Too Good for Toros in 54-41 Win

Box Score
LA MIRADA -- Host Biola boasted three players who tallied double-figure scoring totals compared to two for visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills, and that was the difference in the Eagles' 54-41 win tonight in Chase Gymnasium.  Porcha Davis (pictured) paced CSUDH with 12 points.

With the loss, CSUDH falls to 1-3, while Biola improves to 4-1 on the year.

The Toros kept the game close in the opening session despite Biola taking a 9-2 lead with just under five minutes elapsed in the contest.

A three by Davis and another by Siedah Wilson helped the guests knot the score at 11-all, but an 8-0 Eagle run regained control en route to a 21-18 Biola lead entering the half.

After the break, the Eagles broke the game open with a 14-5 run over the first seven minutes of the second half to lead by 12 at 35-23, before increasing their edge to 16 at 41-25 on a pair of Chelsea Hill freebies with 10:23 left in regulation.

A Sherrie Hughes jumper in the paint followed by buckets by Ella Rodriguez, Tiffany Smith and another by Rodriguez brought CSUDH's deficit to just 42-35 with 5:21 left, but Biola answered with a 3-0 run to reclaim momentum, and hit their final six free throws of the game to ice the victory.

Rodriguez added 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field in her Toro debut, while Davis pulled down 6 boards to pace CSUDH.

Adijat Adams' 13, Emily Drews' 12 and Charrise Reece's 10 points led the way for the Eagles who shot 45% from the field and drained 16-of-20 from the charity stripe, compared to just 32% shooting for the Toros and 5-of-10 free throws.

CSUDH will now head to Phoenix, Arizona to participate in the GCU Thanksgiving Classic next weekend, starting with a 12 noon match-up against Missouri Science and Technology.
