SEASIDE -- Oh, what a difference a season and a half make.  Thirteen months after taking a 5-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in the Home Depot Center's Main Stadium early in 2010, the Otters returned the favor this afternoon with a 2-0 blanking of the Toros to end the regular season.

CSUDH, now at 11-4-2, 9-4-2 CCAA, will enter next week's CCAA Championship Tournament as the No. 3 seed, where it will face North Division winner Chico State at a time to be determined.

After a defensive first half in which just six shots were taken, the Otters turned up their offense after the break.

Max Brixey got the hosts on the board first after his blast ricocheted off both CSUDH keeper Markus Dickerson and the post before trickling into the back of the net in the 66th minute.

CSUMB capitalized again late as Brixey this time was the instigator, shuttling a short cross Aaron Kochman, whose point-blank shot hit paydirt for the insurance goal at 87:46.

The Otters out-shot the Toros 12-9 total and 10-5 in the second half.  And although CSUDH won the corner kick battle 7-1, six came in the first half alone.

Last year's 5-0 result becomes more significant as CSUDH enters Friday's semifinal against the Wildcats after Chico State handed the Toros a 5-0 drilling in Toro Stadium earlier this season.

The contest and ensuing tournament, hosted by Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock, California, can be followed via live video and live stats here.
