Pioneers Put Damper on Toros' NCAA Hopes After 2-1 Double Overtime Win

HAYWARD -- Coming into the final weekend of CCAA play as the No. 6 team in the NCAA west, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros' postseason hopes took a downward turn after host Cal State East Bay came away with a 2-1 double overtime win in the 103rd minute.  Senior #Jessica Murphy# tallied the lone score in the loss.

The Toros struck first in the 42nd minute as #Bailey Butcher# sent a pass to Murphy in the Pioneer goalmouth, where the reigning CCAA Player of the Week sent it to the back corner for a 1-0 lead, bringing the Torrance native to within two goals of the CSUDH career mark.

That momemtum ended 10 minutes later as Eugenie Foote scored the first of what would be her two goals on the night, securing a cross in front of Toro keeper #Tiffany Hollis# and nestling her blast into the corner for the equalizer.

The score remained knotted at 1-1 through regulation and the first overtime session, before Foote came through again, burying her blast past Hollis in the 103rd minute to complete the comeback win.

CSUDH was out-shot 16-12 for the game, while each keeper made 5 saves in the contest.

The Toros, now 8-8-1, 6-8-1 CCAA and already out of the league championship tournament, concludes their regular season on Sunday at CS Monterey Bay.
