Toros Clinch CCAA Berth After 3-1 Road Win Over CS East Bay

Box Score
HAYWARD -- Senior Jordan Rover connected for what proved to be the game winner as three different Toros notched a score in today's 3-1 win over CS East Bay, securing one of four berths into next weekend's CCAA Championship Tournament.

With the win, the Toros remain in a 3-way tie for the most points in league play, and could move ahead of the NCAA West's top seed in Seattle Pacific with a win on Sunday after the Falcons fell to top-ranked Simon Fraser earlier.

Connor Brandt began the scoring in the 28th minute after a Miguel Vazquez free kick was crossed into the box, where Brandt beat CSUEB keeper Bryce Bookhamer for a 1-0 lead.

Rover made it 2-nil just seven minutes later after beating Bookhamer 1v1 and punching in the empty-netter.

The Pioneers cut their deficit in half as Christian Lara beat Toro keeper Markus Dickerson 1v1 with a chip just two minutes into the second half, but a Ronald Ybarra chipped shot with under 10 minutes left in regulation sealed the deal in the 3-1 win.

The Toros improve to 12-3-2, 10-3-2 CCAA, and joined Cal State L.A. and Chico State as three of the four teams to clinch a berth in next week's tournament.  CSUDH concludes its regular season on Sunday with a 2:00 pm game at CS Monterey Bay.
