Men Move to No. 2 in NCAA West

Junior keeper Markus Dickerson has been key in CSUDH's run towards the NCAA postseason

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Bolstered by an unbeaten weekend during its final regular season homestand, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team moved up a spot to No. 2 in the latest NCAA West Region poll of the year, released this morning.

The top four teams from each region qualify for the NCAA postseason, with the site also to be announced on Sunday, November 6.

GNAC power Seattle Pacific tops the list, with cross-town rival Cal State L.A. and Chico State in the Nos. 3 and 4 positions, respectively.

Following the Wildcats are Grand Canyon, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Stanislaus and Hawai'i Pacific, with each looking to move into the top 4 over the final two weekends prior to selection Sunday.

CSUDH is led by senior Jordan Rover's 6 goals and 15 points, with Miguel Vazquez's 4 scores and 3 scores each by Billy Gutierrez, Connor Brandt and Henry Calistro helping lead the offensive charge.

Junior keeper Markus Dickerson, meanwhile, has sports a 1.04 GAA, and became the CSUDH all-time lead in career shutouts after blanking San Francisco State last Sunday.

The Toros need just one win in their final two games to clinch a berth in the upcoming CCAA Championship Tournament, slated for November 4-6, in Turlock, hosted by CS Stanislaus.

CSUDH, at 11-3-2, 9-3-2 CCAA, possesses the best overall record in the CCAA, and is immersed in a 3-way tie for the most points in league play and just percentage points behind CSULA for the best winning percentage in league action.
