Brandt Sends Seniors Out With Win Over San Francisco State

Box Score
CARSON -- Freshman Connor Brandt made sure his senior teammates ended their final regular season game in Toro Stadium with a win after controlling a scramble deep in the Gator zone and chipping it over the SFSU keeper's head for a 1-0 win on "Senior Day," marking the final game for seniors Jordan Rover, Antonio Garcia, Billy Gutierrez and Josh Walker.

With the win, the Toros keep pace with cross-town rival Cal State L.A. for the most points in the CCAA's South Division at 29, with two regular season games left and six teams fighting for four CCAA postseason berths.

A defensive struggle began the day's festivities as the two teams combined for just 7 shots in the first session.

The Toros, needing a win to at least keep their place tied atop the CCAA South Division in tact, increased their offensive mindset after the break to the tune of a 10-3 shot advantage.

Things looked to head into an extra session as the scoreboard read zeros with under nine minutes to go, until Rover and Juan Quinonez teamed to keep pressure on the Gators defense, where an ensuing scramble in front of the SFSU net set the table for Brandt, who finalized with the game-winner.

Markus Dickerson picked up the shutout win, which gives him the most shutouts in CSUDH career history.

The 16th-ranked Toros, now 11-3-2, 9-3-2 CCAA, conclude their regular season on the road next weekend, with their CCAA postseason life in their own hands.
