Improbable Shot Produces Expected Outcome as No. 16 Toros and Broncos Duel to 1-1 2OT Tie

Box Score
CARSON -- Facing a single goal deficit with under three minutes left in regulation of a California Collegiate Athletic Association South Division showdown between two teams tied atop the division during "Homecoming" week, junior Ryan Evans launched an improbable 25 foot missile that hit the bottom of Cal Poly Pomona's crossbar, bounced down and just past the Bronco goal line as CPP keeper Andrew Todd controlled it to give the Toros a hard-fought 1-1 double overtime draw against their co-leaders.

The contest was billed as a match-up between division leaders, and lived up to its billing after 110 minutes of brilliant soccer to cap off CSUDH's "Homecoming" week.

A scoreless first half gave way to a frenetic second half and overtime periods after Boris Beta gave the visitors a 1-0 lead after drilling an 8-yard blast past Toro keeper Markus Dickerson in the 59th minute.

That score looked to be the difference as the game reached the late stages, but Evans changed the game's outcome with his opportunistic blast.

The overtime periods saw the Broncos take a 2-0 shot advantage in the first sessions, and the two teams tie at 3 shots apiece in the second overtime, but neither squad was able to finalize due to superb keeping by Dickerson and Todd.

CSUDH, which moves to 10-3-2, 8-3-2 CCAA, looks to keep its three-game unbeaten streak going on Sunday as Sans Francisco State visits Carson on "Senior Day," with first kick set for 2:00 pm.  The game will be streamed live on the Toro Sports Network at www.GoToros.com/live.
