HAYWARD -- Armed with a No. 7 ranking and off to its best start in the program's history, Cal State Dominguez Hills continued its dominance tonight with a workman-like 70-52 win over host Cal State East Bay after Zareh Zargaryan paced the Toros with 20 points, including a perfect 10-of-10 from the foul line.

CSUDH led by as much as 23 in the second half and kept pace with Humboldt State atop the CCAA leaderboard after the 'Jacks crushed CS Monterey Bay by 28 points behind a 50-point effort by Brian Morris.

The Toros left little doubt as to this game's outcome, building a 9-point lead with just five minutes elapsed, and stretching that advantage to 17 points on a Cornell Jenkins triple with 5:14 left in the first half before settling for a 36-17 cushion entering the break.

Despite the hosts cutting their deficit to 15 on a Will Freedman 3-pointer 2:05 into the second period, it was much more of the same as the Toros kept their lead at 19 through the 14:01 mark, only to see CSUEB go on a 14-5 run to cut the lead to 10 at 54-44, the last bucket courtesy of a Roshun Wynne three with 8:45 left in regulation.

CSUDH, however, used a 16-8 run of its own over that final stretch in the 70-52 decision, pushing its record to 12-1, 8-1 CCAA.

Zargaryan led the effort at the foul line as CSUDH sank 25-of-29 attempts from the charity stripe, compared to a 5-for-8 success rate for the hosts, who fell to 2-11, 0-9 CCAA.

That aggressive play contributed to a whopping 35-17 edge in rebounds for the Toros, and a 52.8% to 39.6% advantage in field goal percentage.

Robert Willhite added 11 points including 7-for-7 from the free throw line, with the only blemish on the night occurring in turnovers, where CSUDH committed 21 to CSUEB's 12.

The Toros continue CCAA road action on Saturday as they travel to La Jolla to face UC San Diego, which upset Cal State L.A. 76-73 earlier tonight.
