LA JOLLA -- Senior Scott Locken continued his scoring surge on the road after his two-goal performance on Friday, tallying what proved to be the game-winner in Cal State Dominguez Hills' hard-fought 2-1 win over a game UC San Diego squad in front of a raucous and partisan home crowd of 429.  With the win, the 19th-ranked Toros improve to 3-0-1, 2-0 CCAA.

In a mismatch on paper, the hosts played the reigning NCAA West Region and CCAA Champions even in the first 45 minutes of play, out-shooting the Toros by two and out-cornering CSUDH by the same count.

The only stat that the Toros won appeared on the scoreboard as sophomore Andre Turoldo took matters onto his own feet in the 32nd minute, dribbling into the right of the Triton box and placing his low liner inside the far post for a 1-0 lead.

Locken then added his third goal of the weekend 13 minutes later after Miguel Vargas sent a cross inside the box, allowing Locken to spear his header to the right post, where it ricocheted into the goal.

The Tritons made it interesting late in the second half after Alec Arsht headed his own shot past CSUDH keeper Markus Dickerson, but the Toro defense withstood a flurry of UCSD attempts in the final minutes to take the hard-fought road win.

The hosts tallied two more shots than the Toros and enjoyed a 6-2 corner kick edge on the afternoon, with Dickerson having to make 6 saves compared to just 2 for UCSD keeper Jesse Brennan.

Tied atop the CCAA south with cross-town rival Cal State L.A., the Toros host Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday, September 17, for a 7:00 pm first kick inside the Main Stadium of the Home Depot Center.
