SEASIDE -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros ran their win streak to 12-consecutive, grabbing a 6-4 decision over the Otters of Cal State Monterey Bay in the day's opener before taking a 9-1 win in a homer-filled nightcap.  Key at the dish, Dean Benavidez went yard in each contest to bring in three runs for the Toros.

The 12-straight wins is the longest win streak for the Toros since becoming NCAA Division II members in 1980, and is tied with the all-time streak of 12 games set in 1977.

Grabbing his most decisive win to date, game one starter Shane Youngdale worked eight full frames, fanning five batters while shutting down the side six times, all while giving up zero runs.

Earning his 10th save of the season, Matt Phillips faced three batters in the ninth, giving up only one hit and fanning one batter.

Offensively, The Toro bats were clicking on all cylinders through nine frames, as not one batter fanned in the outing.

In game one the Toros struck first, grabbing three runs in the second frame after a Kevin Pillar double and ensuing single brought him safely home for the first run of the game.

Key in the game one win was Brian Sturgis as the catcher scored two runs and brought in one, going 2-of-4 with a double and RBI single.

In game two the Toros wasted little time in securing the win, as three 2-run home runs by way of Abel Medina, Pillar and Benavidez, capped with a Kevin Logan RBI double gave the Toros a 7-0 advantage, more than enough in the 9-1 win.

Andrew Baslow made an impressive return in game two, pinch-hitting in the sixth and slicing a first-pitch single through the middle that would eventually plate another run in the blowout.

Game two starter David Fair worked a full five innings, fanning four batters and scattering five hits with just one earned run allowed.

Going 3-of-9 on the day, including a hit in both contests, Pillar extended his hit streak to 39 games, now standing just 10 games shy of the tying the NCAA Division II all-time record of 49 games.

The Toros, now with a 31-10 overall mark and 21-7 in the CCAA, will make a run for the new win streak record as they travel to Chico State this weekend for a very key series set to start on Friday, April 16 at 6:00pm
