Toros Can't Find Offense in 11-0 Loss at Concordia-Irvine

Box Score
IRVINE -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team learned the hard way that three total team hits will not translate into any victories as the Eagles of Concordia University, Irvine held CSUDH scoreless in an 11-0 whitewash.  Starting in action, Bret Montgomery gave up only two hits in three innings while fanning two batters to take the loss.

Held hitless for three straight innings, the Toros were at the mercy of the Eagles' Bennett Whitmore until the fourth when Abel Medina connected, sending a single through to center, where he was stranded.

Medina once again attempted CSUDH's closest scoring opportunity, stealing second after gaining first base on a walk late in the seventh.

The hosts grabbed the winning run in the second, taking full advantage of two Toro errors to send home Jeff Senters.

CUI grabbed one more in the third and four and five runs in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively, to account for the final 11-0 tally.

CSUDH sent seven of its pitchers to the hill, including Shane Youngdale, who shut down three batters and gave up no hits in two frames to lead the Toros.

The loss drops CSUDH to a 1-2 overall record as non-conference play continues.  The squad will once again face off in the NAIA as they take on the Eagles of Biola University in La Mirada with first pitch at 2:00pm tomorrow afternoon.
