Toros Open 2010 Outdoor Season With Full Fanfare Grabbing Three Provisional Marks


LA JOLLA -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's track & field squad dominated in their 2010 outdoor opening with a total of eight athletes grabbing a top-five position in 11 different events.  Nancy Blake won the 400-meter dash in 56.55 to highlight the provisional qualifiers.

Blake's time of 56.55 in the 400-meter dash not only slotted her in the No. 1 position, the time now places her at No. 14 on the Toros' all-time marks in the event.  Three other Toros placed in the top-seven in the race with Dora Baldwin grabbing No. 2 with a time of 57.90.

Looking to repeat as an All-American, Chanel Parker also grabbed a provisional standard time, finishing third in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.54.

A mirror image of the indoor season, the Toros came together as a team as the day wound down with the quartet of Monikkia White, Destiny Tyler, Breionna Jackson and Parker taking top honors in the 4x100 relay with a 47.04 finish, the third and final provisional time on the day.

With the 2010 outdoor season now in full swing, the Toros will next take part in the 14th Annual Rossi Relays hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College on Saturday, February 27th.
