SAN FRANCISCO -- There's no place like ... the road?  Putting a twist on the L. Frank Baum classic, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team won its fourth-straight game on the road in a 62-57 victory at San Francisco State tonight, making it a total of five-consecutive victories and eight of its last nine.  Senior Jamel Ward led all scorers with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor.

The Toros again led on both sides of the court, limiting the hosts to just 36.8% shooting for the game while draining 51.3% of their shots, and making 17 more trips to the foul line, resulting in 15 more makes from the stripe.

Both teams played well from the start, with neither able to secure more than a 4-point cushion until a Phoenix O'Rourke triple gave SFSU a 22-17 edge with 6:25 left in the half.

That bucket, however, fueled the CSUDH offense as it out-scored the Gators 15-0 to take a 32-22 lead with 1:32 left, settling for a 32-29 edge entering the break.

Using that momentum late in the first half, CSUDH stormed out to a nine point lead on a Tim McLaurin jumper at the 13:36 mark, pushing it to 11 at 45-34 on another bucket by McLaurin, this time a 3-pointer.

The Gators whittled their deficit to single digits five times over the next nine minutes, but a Ward triple with 2:28 left in regulation gave CSUDH a comfortable 13-point lead at 57-44, all but sealing the deal.

Not wanting to be the Toros' fifth-straight conquest, SFSU rallied late behind a couple of treys, but 4-of-6 makes from the line in the final 28 seconds secured the win for the CCAA Tournament-bound Toros, bringing them to 13-10, 13-5 CCAA, just 1/2 game out of the top spot in conference, which is currently occupied by three teams at 14-4.

The Toros host their penultimate homestand next weekend as two of the teams tied for the league's top mark make their way to Carson, starting with CS San Bernardino on Friday, February 19.
