LOS ANGELES -- Senior Zareh Zargaryan posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 boards in his first start of the season to lead No. 17 Cal State Dominguez Hills past host Cal State L.A. 53-51 in a battle of cross-town rivals and give the Toros a sweep of the regular season series.

Tonight's contest was the opposite of the two teams' first meeting in which CSUDH led wire-to-wire and by as much as 22 in the 54-38 win, as the cross-town rivals forged seven ties in the first 20 minute period en route to a 36-34 Toro lead entering the half.

Despite shooting under 50% in the frame, CSUDH sizzled from behind the arc hitting 6-of-10 from long range, including all five threes made by Marcquintice Davis and the last by Zargaryan to account for the final Toro points of the period.

The second half looked to mirror the first as the teams tied for the eighth time at 40-40 with 11:49 left in regulation, before two Zargaryan free throws would give CSUDH the lead for good after the first foul of the half on the Golden Eagles.

Four more free throws by the Toros gave the visitors a 6-point lead at 46-40 until a scoring drought by both teams moved the tally to 48-45 Toros four minutes later.

After a Zargaryan lay-up gave CSUDH breathing room at 50-45, a Ryan Wetherell triple and free throw by Franklin Session brought CSULA to within one with 3:49 left, but a suffocating Toro defense limited the hosts to zero points over the next 3:48, before a Wetherell lay-up with one second left accounted for the game's final score.

Both teams shot just 34.5% from the field, and hovered just over the 33.3% mark from long range, but CSUDH was nearly perfect at the line going 9-for-11, whereas CSULA went just 3-for-9 in the two point loss.

Davis led the Toros with 17 points with five of his six baskets coming from behind the 3-point line, with Zargaryan pulled down 11 of his 12 boards on the defensive end.

CSULA's Franklin Sessions led all scorers with 24 points with Wetherell chipping in 12 points and David Norris collecting a game-high 13 rebounds as the Golden Eagles fell to 6-2, 2-2 CCAA, with both losses coming at the hands of the Toros.

CSUDH, meanwhile, improves to 7-1, 3-1 CCAA with the win, and remains tied for second in the conference as league play resumes on December 30, with a 2:30 pm contest against CS Stanislaus on the "Dave Yanai Court" in the Torodome.  The game can be seen live on internet TV on www.GoToros.com/live.
