CARSON -- Attempting to erase the memory of a 3-1 loss earlier this week at Cal State L.A., the No. 13 Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team came close but dropped a double-overtime 3-2 thriller to the visiting Golden Eagles.  Diego Turoldo carried the offensive effort with a goal, assist and three shots.

The Toros came from a 1-0 deficit for their first score as Austin Nate grabbed a feed from Turoldo for a seamless one-touch, tying the game only three minutes after CSULA took the lead.

The elder Turoldo came through again in the 75th minute after securing a corner kick from his younger brother Andre Turoldo and slotting his own shot from the top of the box to bring the Toros to a 2-2 tie.

The Eagles scored first and last in their win as David Hauser put CSULA up early at the 21-minute mark, Tim Van Den Bergh again in the 39th minute and Tyler Coombes putting in the final blow with a little over a minute left in the night.

Despite the highly-anticipated rematch of Wednesday's contest, neither side managed a solid offense with the Toros putting five shots on frame while the Eagles managed four of their own.

The loss dampened an otherwise festive mood brought about by the 10th anniversary of the 2000 NCAA Championship team being honored at halftime, including 2000 D-II Player of the Year JC Bolanos.

Now 10-4-2 overall and 8-4-2 in the CCAA, the Toros will pack their bags right away as they head to the islands to take on the University of Hawai'i-Hilo next Tuesday at 6:00pm.
