CARSON, Calif. -- Inspired by a pregame court unveiling ceremony for former Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball head coach Dave Yanai, the 2009-10 Toros outscored visiting Cal State Monterey Bay by 20 in a dominating second half to post a key 79-64 win and complete a CCAA weekend sweep.  Tim McLaurin led all scorers with 23 points, with 20 coming in the first half of play.

McLaurin was the story in the first half, draining 7-of-10 shots from the field to keep the Toros within striking distance, including 5-of-7 from behind the arc for a period-best 20 points.  The Toros enjoyed a 7-point lead three times in the game's first eight minutes of play, before the Otters took the lead at 23-22 on a Keith Wilson jumper at the 5:14 mark, and increased it to 34-29 entering the break.

A James Cawthorne triple and Tim McGrath jumper knotted the game at 34-34 just 1:40 into the second period, before a Michael Cox jumper gave CSUDH a 58-56 lead at the 7:02 mark, an advantage the Toros would keep throughout the rest of the contest.

A Jamel Ward 3-pointer, another Cox jumper and a McGrath triple quickly brought the lead to 66-56 with 5:12 left in regulation, a scoring surge that saw CSUDH's lead hit as high as 16 on two Marcquintice Davis makes at the foul line, with Davis accounting for the game's final points on a lay-in with 40 seconds left in the 79-64 win.

Cox finished with 13 points and 4 boards, with Ward's 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Cawthorne's 11 points and 7 boards accounting for much of the Toro offense as CSUDH out-rebounded their Seaside counterparts by a whopping 36-21 margin.

Shaun Williams led CSUMB with 19 points, as the Otters dropped to 4-8, 2-5 CCAA.

Prior to the contest, the Toros honored former men's basketball head coach Dave Yanai, the winningest coach in the history of the program, with the unveiling of the "Dave Yanai Court," the second and final portion of his tribute that followed a pre-tribute ceremony in the Loker Student Union (more to follow).

The Toros, riding a two-game winning streak and winners of four of their last five, improve to 4-8, 4-3 CCAA with the win, and will take to the road for the next two weekends before returning home the weekend of January 29-30, to host Humboldt State and Sonoma State in key league match-ups.  First tip for both games is set for 7:30 pm on the "Dave Yanai Court" in the Torodome.
