'Cats Run Wild to Take Down Toros in 85-34 Loss

CHICO, Calif. -- One night after two players set personal career marks in scoring, The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team fell to the host Wildcats of Chico State in a 85-34 loss.  Grabbing nine points and three boards, Kala Amico paced the Toro offense.

It appeared the game was written in the first half as the hosts grabbed a 40-12 lead going into the break.

After the break, the Toros enjoyed their biggest streak of the game at four points, courtesy of a Brandie McCann layup and two Barbara Houston freebies.

Taking the win with a 51-point advantage, the Wildcats held a 53-point lead with 1:16 left in play, their biggest of the game.

CSUDH had the last say as Houston took a #A.J. Adams# feed in the paint to give the Toros a final two.

The 34 Toro points marks the lowest CSUDH has scored since the 1976-77 season in which they lost to Biola University 28-103 and defeated Pomona-Pitzer 32-31.

With nine points, Amico was one-shy of tying her previous game-high of 10.

CSUC was led by a group of four in double-digit scoring range, Pauline Ferrall with 13, Molly Collins 12, Melissa Richardson 11 and Synchro Bull 10.

The loss drops the Toros to a 5-11 overall mark (4-7 CCAA).  The Toros will travel south next week to face Cal State L.A. in a midweek game.  Tipoff is at 5:30pm on January 27th.
